Duct blast testing is similar to how a plumber tests water lines for leaks.

A fan is used to place pressure on the duct work and a calculation is made to show how leaky the system is. Leaks in the supply ducts can cause conditioned air (air that you paid to heat or cool) to be lost in the attic, crawl space or garage.

Leaks in the return ducts can cause indoor air quality issues as they pull air in from the crawlspace, attic or garage. But it also causes your equipment to work harder as it is adding hot or cold air, depending on the time of year, back to your air handler and then through the supplies.

A duct blast test is required in the State of South Carolina for any new construction home. It is also valuable for existing homes, because it can help quickly and inexpensively diagnose a problem that can be costing a homeowner significant amounts of money.

Duct Blast tests will help you prioritize your needs to make your home more energy efficient. Schedule a test today!

We recently had A-1 Insulation install blown-in cellulose insulation in our attic.  Brett and his team were professional, dependable, and very efficient in getting the job done.

Brett and his team did a great job raising our attic platform and adding insulation to our entire attic. It has increased our energy efficiency.

The project involved cellulose wall spray insulation for our entire home (new construction) and installation of a radiant barrier.  I was extremely satisfied with the professionalism of Brett and the quality of the job!
